Choosing a future profession is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. If you spend eight hours a day five times a week at the place you hate, your whole life can be spoilt only because of your job.

So, it is a question of satisfaction with the career. Besides, a future income depends on the type of work a person will do. It should be enough to correspond to his needs and ambitions.

How to Make a Right Choice?

Those people who manage to choose a prosperous and satisfying career are lucky. But, most young people are not quick in making a right decision because they do not have enough life experience.

First, estimate your own abilities and talents. Most likely, your favourite subjects at school or your hobbies will build up a strong basis for your future professional field.

Secondly, it is good to ask for advice from working professionals and visiting them at work. Try to visit different places, compare what you see, analyse if it your cup of tea or not. Moreover, parents and teachers are always ready to help, ask them.

Finally, look inside yourself. See how ambitious you are, what kind of character and temper you have, what your tempo of life is. Your future job should be corresponding to your nature.

Professional preferences of school-leavers change from generation to generation. Scientific progress, fashion and economic situation in the country play a great role in choosing definite professions.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Masha. I have finished school this year. It is my dream to become a student of the English department. I want to study English, German and maybe French.

Knowledge of a foreign language opens a new world for us. If you know a foreign language, you can speak with foreigners and it is a way to better understanding. If you know a foreign language you can read books in the original, and it is a way to better understanding of other people"s nature and culture.

In our country children study different foreign languages. At school I took up English. I read stories by English, American and Australian writers. It has become my habit to read English books in adapted form every day. I learn poems and do a lot of grammar exercises.

Now I know I must work hard to master English. Studying the English language under the guidance of the University teachers I want to learn much about the history of words, their origin and usage in ancient times. For example; the word "window" is made of two very old Anglo-Saxon words, such as "wind" and "eye". The word "window" means "the wind"s eye". It tells us of the time when a window was only a hole in the wall, and the wind used to come through it.

When I finish my studies, I"ll begin teaching in a secondary school. I think I"ll enjoy the work greatly. Teaching is a noble profession. In modern times all kinds of specialists need foreign languages in their work - teachers, doctors, engineers and people in many other professions. If a specialist doesn"t know a foreign language he can"t use all the foreign books which he needs in his work. I want to teach my pupils to read English books in the original, so they won"t depend on translations.

В нашей стране дети изучают различные иностранные языки. В школе я изучала английский язык. Я читаю рассказы английских, американских, австралийских писателей. У меня вошло в привычку каждый день читать адаптированные книги на английском языке. Я учу стихотворения и делаю много грамматических упражнений.

Я знаю сейчас, что я должна много работать, чтобы овладеть английским языком. Изучая английский язык под руководством преподавателей университета, я хочу многое узнать о происхождении слов и их употреблении в давние времена. Например, слово "окно" состоит их двух древних англо-саксонских слов, таких как "ветер" и "глаз". Слово "окно" означает "глаз ветра". Оно говорит о том времени, когда окном была дыра в стене, и через нее часто дул ветер.

Когда я закончу учебу, я начну преподавать в общеобразовательной школе. Я думаю, что получу огромное удовольствие от работы. Учитель - это благородная профессия. В наше время всем специалистам надо знать иностранные языки - учителям, инженерам и людям других профессий. Если специалист не знает иностранный язык, он не может пользоваться всеми книгами на иностранном языке, которые ему нужны для работы. Я хочу научить моих учеников читать английские книги в оригинале, что-бы они не зависели от переводов. Я надеюсь, что сделала правильный выбор.

When a young man starts to think about a future career, he imagines a very glorious picture. But a person gets older he faces real life with its problems. After graduation from the Institute young specialists don’t have many variants. The most common one is to get work as a manager.

As for me, I don’t want to spend all the time in a stuffy office full of computers and printers. I believe that I will never impose unnecessary goods, compose boring reports, and be on phone all day. I understand that modern life could be more difficult without managers, but this kind of work not for me. We have one life and we ought to spend it wisely. I’m sure that in the future I’ll ask myself what I’ve achieved. I believe that any person is born to fulfil some goals, which nobody else, but himself, could define. So as sooner I define my goals as happier I will be.

I’m leaving school at the end of the spring and I always think about an educational institution which I need to choose. I think the ideal option for me will be any Choreographic Academy. I have been dancing all since I was five and I can’t imagine my future life without choreography. Dancing is the best way to express myself, to capture my emotions and thoughts to people. I adore dancing. When I’m engrossed in creation, I don’t think about my school problems and everyone around. I call it “inspiration”. I feel that a real connection between me and the Universe. So I just pick up some ideas and express them through dance using my body and emotions.

If I tell my friends or parents about this plan, perhaps they will say that I am aspiring to be famous. By no means, fame is a heavy burden. There is an important difference between the desire to be a famous artist and the desire not to be forgotten dancer. I don"t think the people of art are exceptional. If an architect creates buildings that will stand for many years, people will be thankful for his great work. If the writer’s novels are read in three hundred years, it will be wonderful. If a dancer’s creation will be remembered next generations, he will live in human hearts.

Any career should make the human who has chosen it satisfied. Otherwise, working routine will be an excruciation and nothing else. I really don’t want to write reports and answer the phone sitting in the office all day. I want my profession to make me happy, and I want to see happy people around me.

Now I have to think about my entrance exams. They are not so easy. I believe that my dream to become a great dancer will come true and I will be able to share the pleasure of dancing with other people.

Когда молодой человек думают о будущей карьере, он представляет очень славную картину. Но как только человек становится старше, он сталкивается с реальной жизнью и её проблемами. После выпуска из Института молодой специалист не имеет много вариантов. Чаще всего он получает работу менеджера.

Что касается меня, я не хочу проводить всё время в душном офисе с большим количеством компьютеров и принтеров. Я верю, что я никогда не буду навязывать ненужные товары, составлять скучные отчёты и говорить по телефону вес день. Я понимаю, что современная жизнь была бы трудной без менеджеров, но этот вид работы не для меня. У нас только одна жизнь и нам стоит тратить её мудро. Я уверен, что в будущем я буду задавать себе вопрос, чего я достиг. Я думаю, что любой человек рождён для выполнения определённых целей, которые никто кроме него не сможет определить. Поэтому чем быстрее я определюсь с целью, тем счастливее я буду.

Я оканчиваю школу в конце весны, и я всё время размышляю об учебном заведении, который мне нужно выбрать. Я думаю, идеальным вариантом для меня будет какая-нибудь Хореографическая Академия. Я танцую с пяти лет, и не могу представить свою жизнь без хореографии. Танец - лучший способ выразить себя, передать мои эмоции и мысли людям. Я обожаю танцы. Когда я погружён в творчество, я не думаю о своих школьных проблемах и людях вокруг. Я называю это «вдохновением». Я чувствую настоящую связь между мной и Вселенной. Я просто подбираю подходящие идеи и выражаю их через танец, используя своё тело и эмоции.

Если я расскажу своим друзьям и родителям о своём плане, возможно, они скажут, что я стремлюсь стать знаменитым. Без сомнения, известность тяжёлое бремя. Существует важное различие между желанием стать знаменитым художником и желанием не стать забытым танцором. Я не думаю, что люди искусства необыкновенные. Если архитектор создаёт здания, которые простоят многие годы, люди будут благодарны ему за работу. Если романы писателя будут читать через три сотни лет, это будет замечательно. Любая карьера должна сделать человека, который её выбрал, удовлетворенным. С другой стороны, работа может стать пыткой и больше ни чем другим. Я действительно не хочу писать отчёты и отвечать на телефонные звонки, просиживая в офисе весь день. Я хочу, чтобы моя профессия сделала меня счастливым, и я хочу видеть счастливых людей вокруг себя.

Choosing a career is like any other activity: it is best to work to a plan. Too many people start looking for a specific job before thinking out their occupational aims. It is a good idea to begin by attempting to define in clear terms what your requirements are from a career. This involves taking a realistic view of your strengths and weaknesses. You may think for example, that you would like a job which involves organizing people, but liking such a job is not a sufficient justification if experience you already have may suggests that this is not your strong point. On the other hand, you should remember that training will equip you to do new things.

A further point to consider is how far you will be willing to do for a time things which you do not like knowing that they are necessary to achieve your longer term objectives. Having thought carefully about the sort of person you are, try to work out a realistic set of occupational requirements. In particular, you can answer to important questions. First: What sort of life do you want to lead? For example, do you want to live in the country or in the town? Is leisure time of great importance to you? Is the size of your salary important? Do you want to put down roots or travel widely? Second: What sort of work do you want to do? For example, do you like working alone or with others? Does teaching people appeal to you? Do you want to be an organizer of other people’s activities? Do you want to develop new ideas and initiate changes?

As for me, I have made up my mind to be an engineer. As my parents are engineers, they have made a great influence on my choice and I can say that this profession runs the family. My choice of this occupation didn’t come as a sudden flash. I think that nowadays this profession is of great need and importance to our country. It is my aim to be a qualified specialist and to serve the interests of my country. To be a well prepared engineer I should have some important qualities: great capability persistence, knowledge of science and of course knowledge of foreign languages. In spite of these arguments we mustn’t forget about everybody’s vacation. I think that my facilities combined with the knowledge would be quiet enough to succeed in my work.

Choosing a career is extremely difficult. What can help you make the right choice?

Every person at the age of 14 to 16 has to make an extremely stressful decision, to choose his or her own career. You might be wondering what the difference is between a career and a job. Basically a job is something you do, but don"t expect to continue doing forever. A career is what you hope to do for a long time or even for your entire working life. Choosing a career is a difficult and challenging task: the decision once taken will influence your future life. There are, of course, a lot of examples when people have changed their career paths in their twenties, thirties and even forties but, of course, it is better to make the right choice at the very beginning. The earlier you decide on what profession is interesting and rewarding for you, the more you can achieve during your lifetime.

Choosing a career is a challenging task indeed. It is all about finding the perfect match between your personality, interests, and skills. On the one hand, modern society, with its hundreds of professions and jobs, presents a vast range of future job opportunities. Industry and business, farming, science and education, medicine, service, arts and journalism are just a few professional fields a young person can specialize in. On the other hand, modern society with its crises, unemployment and inflation, makes a poor choice of profession a really bad mistake. You can choose a profession you really like, and face problems when looking for a job. Or you can find a job you like, but it will be underpaid. Besides, a young person"s parents usually have their own ideas of what career path to choose. Some parents are more democratic and let the child determine his future by himself. Some are oppressive and overprotective and try to force the child to make this or that career choice. In this case, they often try to compensate for their own dreams which have failed and the chances they have missed. Sometimes they see their child is gifted in some field and try to persuade him to choose this profession irrespective of the fact if he likes it or not.

In spite of all the problems mentioned above, the choice has to be made. To make it easier for the young people, there is some professional advice. It"s best for the young man to start this process as early as possible, ideally in the tenth form. You should determine if you would like to continue in higher education, or to learn a trade and look for a job. It"s up to the person to decide, but you should remember that to get more chances, you should strive for higher education which enables you to be qualified for skilled labour. You should determine what you might like to study or major in at college. You might like to try some of these career assessment tests to help with this step. You will surely also get suggestions from family, friends, and high school teachers and guidance counsellors. You also have to consider the demand for a particular career in the labour market. Choosing a career where there are limited job opportunities can greatly increase the challenges you will face.

Выбор карьеры является стимулирующей задачей действительно. Это - все об обнаружении прекрасного состязания между Вашей индивидуальностью, интересами, и навыками. С одной стороны, современное общество, с его сотнями профессий и рабочих мест, представляет обширный диапазон будущих вакансий. Промышленность и бизнес, сельское хозяйство, наука и образование, медицина, обслуживание, искусства и журналистика - только несколько профессиональных областей, на которых может специализироваться молодой человек. С другой стороны, современное общество с его кризисами, безработицей и инфляцией, делает плохой выбор профессии действительно плохой ошибкой. Вы можете выбрать профессию Вы действительно как, и оказаться перед проблемами, ища работу. Или Вы можете найти работу, которую Вы любите, но этому недоплатят. Кроме того, у родителей молодого человека обычно есть свои собственные идеи какой путь карьеры выбрать. Некоторые родители более демократичны и позволяют ребенку определять свое будущее один. Некоторые являются репрессивными и защитными и пытаются вынудить ребенка сделать это или тот выбор карьеры.
